Since making his full international debut at the age of 20 in 2001, Marco Bortolami has won 111 caps for the Azzurri.
As Italy’s youngest ever captain at age 22, Bortolami’s crowning moments include scoring a renowned interception try again the All Blacks in his first match wearing the captain’s armband.
Bortolami led Italy to their most successful Six Nations Championship in 2007. Recording their first away victory in the tournament, before breaking their record most games won by an Italian side in a Six Nations Championship.
13 years on from his international debut, Bortolami earned his 100th cap for the Azzurri, before retiring from the international squad a year later.
